Denver Day of Rock

As I am trying to catch up on my life on this little blog...I realize that I am SOOOO far behind!  It's a bit overwhelming!!  In fact, this post is a month old!

A couple of friends and I attended the Denver Day of Rock in downtown Denver in May.  It was the first time that I got to ride my cruiser!  We had a great time!!  We randomly got VIP passes when a girl with 4 of them around her neck, walked by and my friend Chris asked if we could have some of them...and she gave us 3 of them!!!  SCORE!!!  So, the rest of the day we got to eat and drink for free! It was a great time, and I am pretty sure that we drank WAY too much!

The night before we went to a concert...these boys are the concert gurus of Denver!!!

Free VIP passes!!!!

Our fabulous bartender that poured us 3 glasses of wine in one! LOVE!!!

Nurses have all the fun!

I have no idea where these lei's came from!!!

Cruisin' around Denver!!!
Love this girl!!!

100K

My great friend Sabra...aka my bike riding buddy signed up for an organized bike ride in Loveland in May!  It was our first metric century ride...100K...62 miles!  It was a great ride with some beautiful sites!

As I was climbing a hill for the first time this riding season...I was shouting like a sailor in my head!  I was not ready for this ride...totally not in shape, physically or mentally.  It takes a lot to be able to climb these mountains and hills of CO...and I have done harder climbs...I just wasn't ready for this ride!  I hadn't been on my bike as much as I should have been, but when I came around the corner at the end of the climb it was worth every single cuss word and pedal...it was BEAUTIFUL!!!  Carter lake...

As I crossed the bridge with a canyon on one side of me and the lake on the other side...I thought "Damn, I could be in one of those pictures on the front of a cycling magazine." It was that gorgeous!!!

The whole ride had great views including Horsetooth Reservoir, I wasn't able to capture any photos because I was in awe of the views, trying to climb, and then had an amazing downhill that got to 35 mph...so a photo wasn't possible!  But, just believe me when I say it was gorgeous!

First metric century...D-O-N-E!!!

...and I'm still smiling!

There is not a bike ride that is complete until you have a post-ride brew!!!

Delta Zeta Senior Brunch

I joined the Delta Zeta Alumnae chapter for brunch to recognize the seniors before they graduated!!!  We had a great group of women there, and great conversation!!!  I meet new women, reconnected with old friends, and continued to grow a bond with the women that I talk to frequently!  There is nothing better than being with a group of women that lived by the standards that you did when you were college, and to know that 7 years after graduation these women still hold these standards dear to their heart.  When I joined Delta Zeta, I once thought to myself..."I'm going to punch the next person that tells me that Delta Zeta goes beyond these next 4 years, it's for a lifetime." I realize now that they were so right!!  I have meet some great women since I have moved to Denver, just because I stepped out of my box and went to a Christmas brunch all by myself, not knowing a single soul there...now I have become great friends with more than half of the women that were there!  And I hold them dear to my heart!  All because of that pledge we all took as some point in our lives, that little pledge lead us to each other and for that I am so grateful!

The seniors that were at the brunch

As New Member Education Advisor for the Rho chapter, I advised Edie this last year as she educated the new members!

Deb and Edie love PINK & GREEN!!!!

I love this lady so freaking much!  She is amazing!!!  I consider her my CO momma!  Her heart is seriously made of gold, and she radiates with love for life and Delta Zeta!

All the alumnae with the Seniors!

TO MY FRIENDS, UNDERSTANDING & APPRECIATION...

Another Good-bye

In May, we said good-bye to yet another great nurse that I work with.  He and his wife are moving back home to Tennessee, but they didn't go out without a bang!!! We had a great night celebrating with the people that I spend a lot of time with.  There's nothing better than working with a large group of people that you call your friends before you call them co-workers!

The girls...most of these girl's work in the MICU...but we love them anyway!

Sabra quickly became one of my greatest friends...oddly enough we are always up for the same things!

Sab and I with Jeff...we will miss him dearly!

Brett and I!

Love this girl!

Sabs and I with Jeff again!

Then we add Dylan!

What a night we had with these great people!!!

Best quote of the night came from the mouth of Jeff's wife Jerilyn...."She came up to us and said, "Guys, they have all kinds of shots, smore shots, grape shot, coffee shots...really anything you could ever think of...and I've had them all."  Needless to say, Jerilyn never made it to the next bar!!!

Everyone is talking about the next get together that we need to have, however, I hope it's just to get together and not a going away party....we've lost too many good nurses recently!!!!

Baby Owen's Baptism

So, I'm back....I've been on a hiatus lately and I can't really tell you why...well actually is goes something like this....
I've been having WAY too much fun!!!  Between vacation, bike rides, day concerts, weekends of stupidity, runs, and work...well the fun stops at work, but what the heck, it consumes some of my time! I decided that tonight was the night that I take the time to knock a few blogs of my never ending list of things to share...I'll probably add more tomorrow, but now is just as good as a time than ever!!!

Back to the title of this blog....

On May 4th, my mom and her twin sister's 60th birthday...we baptized my new nephew Owen Zachary!  My sister asked to to stand up and be his Godmother, and of course with out delay I said yes.  I was more than delighted to be his Godmother.  I hold my faith dear to me, and to be able to share that with Owen and help him to love his faith as much as I do is a a complete honor!  Little Owen was baptized in the church that I grew up in learning about my faith and it will be the church that he will learn all the things I did.

Owen wore the baptismal gown that we had made out of my grandma's, my mom's, and both my sister's wedding gowns...my nephew Hudson wore this gown a little over a year ago.  Every time I show someone a picture of this gown, they go on and on about it.  It's beautiful and has so much meaning!  Owen is laying on the blanket that I crocheted him when he was born!

La-la-love my family!
