Missing Fall......

It's been forever since I have updated...but there isn't much going on down here in TX right now!!!  I have survived a flood though!!!  A couple Sundays ago, the good Lord dropped 9 inches of rain on this city and every street was flooded!!!  It was crazy!!!! There are still several areas that are flooded!!!! 
Due to all the standing water....you can only imagine how many mosquitoes there are and these aren't ordinary KS mosquitoes...they are seriously like teradactyls and I am not kidding!!!  You walk outside and it's like a swarm of them are just waiting to suck your blood!!!!  While walking from my car to my condo the other day, I had 4 bites by the time I got inside and they were all through my clothes!!!  I was going crazy with all the itching!!!!
I am missing the Fall weather and all the color changes so much!!!  We actually got a cold front yesterday and it's been about 75 degrees with 40% humidity!!!  So it is a nice break from the 90 degrees weather with 89% humidity!!!!  However, this weather may be fall down here...but the leaves don't change and when I ask someone about fall down here....they said "Oh, everything just turns brown and dies."  That sounds SOOOO depressing!!!!!
I am anxiously awaiting an extension of my contract...no one will give me answers!!!  I am about ready to pull my hair out!!!  It's crazy to think that I only have 6 more weeks left of my contract!!!  I have met some great people and am not ready to leave Corpus Christi yet!!!  I am hoping to have my extension by the end of this week or next so that I can stop stressing about it!!! 
Well, I'm signing off for the day...I plan to blog more often!!!  If, I don't just yell at me and I'll get on it!!!  Sorry not to have any pictures this week....I'll try to have some the next time!!! 
Countdown to KC: 15 DAYS!!!  YAY!!!!!

I survived my first Tropical storm....

As I was dropping my bestie Karisa off at the airport, it was starting to rain, but I didn't think of it as anything more that just a thunderstorm...after I got back home and was picking up my condo from a crazy weekend with Karisa, I recieved a text from her that said her plane was delayed due to storms...again, nothing big crossed my mind...until I turned on the TV, and there she was Tropical Storm Hermaine!!! The pacing began...of course, the first thing I thought of was a hurricane....I was freakin' out!!!!  When my mom called she said that she had been watching it on the weather channel and was just telling my dad that it was headed right for Corpus Christi!!!  Needless to say, it wasn't that bad!!!  We had high winds and heavy rains, but no damage other than a few palm tree branches down!  However, Hermaine seemed to have caused more damage in San Antonio and Dallas with flooding and torandoes, even some deaths!!!  So I'm definitely counting my blessings!!!

The weekend with Karsia was another weekend to go down in history!!!  We had so much fun!!!  Mostly the weekend was spent drinking with some of my friends that I have met while down here, but it was still a blast!!

On Sunday, we decided to go over to Port Aranasas, it is a strip of land in the gulf!  We were going there to go parasailing, but when we got there the parasailing guy was closed due to "high wind".  The first thought going through our minds was, "Don't you need wind to go parasailing?", but instead we went on a dolphin excursion!  I was thinking, "If we pay this money to see dolphins and we don't see any, I'm not going to be a happy camper!"  But, within about 500 ft. from the port there they were and they would come right up to the boat!!!  It was pretty cool!!!  They dropped a net and caught a variety of fish, shrimp, and crabs!!!  It was a fun little excursion, but it was HOT!!!!

We also got to see a light house!!!!

Sunday night when we got back from Port Aranasas, we decided to eat at Joe's Crab Shack on the Marina!!  I am pretty sure that I had the best crab legs that I have had in a LONG time!!!!

It was a great weekend, and of course, I'm ready for Karisa to come back again!!!

I work this weekend for the first full weekend that I have worked since I have been down here!! I guess, it's my turn!!!  However, everyone knows that no matter where I am, I DESPISE working weekends!!!  Oh well, someone has to save lives on the weekends!!!!

The highlight: CHIEFS on Monday Night Football!!!!  Finally the Chiefs will be broadcasted in TX!!!  YAY!!!

Maybe just a little HoMeSiCk....

So, it has been my pride and joy to tell everyone here that I am NOT homesick yet, however, the other day at work the guys were asking me all these questions about KS, and I even showed them pictures of the different colors of fall that show up in KS...they were asking about my family and if I miss them yet, and on and on!!!  My mom ended up calling me that afternoon while I was at work, and with some recent rumors flying around my home town, of course I instantly thought something was wrong, but all she wanted to tell me was that they missed me and are going to come to TX for Thanksgiving if I'm still here...well, that just put me over the edge...luckily I was able to keep my homesick alligators tears to myself until I got home...once that door was shut...it was like Hurricane Danielle hit my condo!!!  I couldn't stop crying for the life of me!!!  I even went semi-postal on a friend that I have only know for four weeks!!!  I felt kind of bad that he got the brunt end of my emotions, but damn it I miss my family and friends more than anything right now!!!  So, I went back to work the next day and told those guys that they couldn't ask me about KS anymore...and of course, they get great pleasure in asking me about it to see if I'll cry!!! 

So, I have always wanted a pair of danskos...however, I have not been willing to spend the $120 that they cost just in case I don't like them!!!  A co-worker at SMMC let me try out her pair before I bought them, but I wasn't sold yet.  However...LOTS of people here in TX have them, so of course I had to buy a pair...and of course I had to have the zebra prints ones!!!  I have already asked for the green python print ones for Christmas!!!!  Here's a picture of my current pair:

So, when I was in KC, I was so self-disciplined about losing weight and working out...but since I have uprooted my life, and with the mix of being homesick, I have not been so good!  I eat whatever I want, and Jillian hasn't quite convinced me that I need to follow her all the time!  However, my good friend Jenna that I met when I lived Topeka, has been on the losing weight band wagon and looks GREAT!!!  I am hoping that her motivation, and by continuing to read her blog will get me motivated and keep me motivated!!!  She recently posted a picture of one of the Biggest Loser contestants that is her goal to look like, so I decided to find my own, and put it on my phone wallpaper so that I see it every time I get on my phone for motivation!!!  I chose Abby Rike to be my motivation!!!  Her story was the one in Biggest Loser history that will bring me to tears every time!!  She lost her husband and 2 children in a car accident and dealt with her emotions by eating herself to 262 lbs....she went on the Biggest Loser to get her life back!  Since then, she has went on tours for motivational speaking and is now beaming!!  I am posting her before/after picture and one of her at the finale...now I just need to find a dress like the one she is wearing!!!!  Abby weighed in at the finale at 161, my goal is 150, but just by knowing Abby's story gives me great motivation and puts the thoughts in my head, that if she can get through that terrible tragedy, I can get through all the little things that I think are tragedies in my life!!!

I'm excited for the holiday weekend!!!  My bestie Karisa is coming back down for the long weekend!!!  We are going to check out the beaches and go to Port Aranasas, where we will possibly go para sailing, go on a dolphin excursion, and jet skiing!!!  I'm so excited!!!  I'm pretty sure that a sober moment this weekend will be hard to come by!!!  I can't wait until she gets here on Friday!!! 

Well, I'm signing off now...I know it's been a while!!!  Be patient with me as I don't have internet at my condo, so I have to go find free WiFi!!!  I have several places now!!!  It's interesting because now that I don't have the internet at my beckon call, my life no longer revolves around it...don't get me wrong, at first I thought I was going to go crazy, but now it's not the first thing on my mind when I get home or when I'm bored!!!  My dad would be so proud!!!
